Water Management Operations (WMO) carries out extensive monitoring and mitigation activities throughout the Province, in alignment with the mission and vision of Alberta Environment.

Monitoring:

  • Study environmental effects of water management projects
  • Evaluate effectiveness of mitigation programs
  • Compare actual to predicted impacts

Mitigation:

  • Work to reduce environmental impacts of water management projects
  • Where possible, improve in-stream conditions
  • Collaborate with basin/watershed planning groups
