Managing Alberta’s Infrastructure

Alberta has over $5 billion worth of water management infrastructure encompassing more than 200 water management systems. The infrastructure includes:

  • On-stream and off-stream storage reservoirs.
  • Dams.
  • Diversion headworks.
  • Main canal systems.

The infrastructure is used to provide an assured water supply for municipal, industrial, agricultural and recreational use, fish and wildlife habitats, flood control, and erosion protection.
