Frequently Asked Questions: FAQs

Water quality science can be complex, and the associated terminology can be confusing for those readers not involved in the day to day business of water management. But many people with non-technical backgrounds do have a genuine interest in the condition of our lakes and rivers. The following section, entitled "Frequently Asked Questions", has therefore been designed to provide quick answers to the questions most commonly asked of department staff.

We have provided responses to three categories of questions and concerns, followed by a general Glossary to explain the meaning of technical terms. Also included are links to many other sources of detailed information, for those who wish to pursue a particular topic in detail.
