Industrial Waste
In Alberta approximately 500,000 tonnes of this form of waste are landfilled every year, representing more than a quarter (27 per cent) of the province's total waste stream. Industry can benefit from improved waste management through reduced job-site waste, haulage/tipping fees and the need for new materials, as well as enhancing its reputation and recouping "new" dollars from the sale of recycled materials. The documents below profile a range of Canadian projects with progressive strategies to divert their waste from landfill. (Estimates from similar projects are used, where project information gaps exist.)
