CRD Waste Reduction Advisory Committee

Alberta Environment in co-operation with a number of industry and government stakeholders created the CRD Waste Reduction Advisory Committee to examine and communicate on opportunities to reduce CRD waste in Alberta.  The Committee is comprised of representatives from building owners and developers, designers, the construction industry, waste management industry, and all three levels of government.  The mandate of the committee is to achieve sustainable construction, renovation and demolition waste reduction through design, construction, reuse, and recycling practices.  Its goals are to:

  1. Remove institutional barriers to CRD waste reduction by supporting development of policies, guidelines, and specifications that promote CRD waste reduction.
     
  2. Achieve greater acceptance and use of sustainable CRD practices by improving public and industry awareness of the benefits and opportunities for CRD waste reduction through education and communication.
     
  3. Increase recovery of CRD waste materials by supporting development of:

  4.      - Beneficial uses for waste materials
         - Better markets for recyclable materials
         - Better collection & distribution networks for waste materials
