Oil and Gas Well Reclamation: More about the data

This indicator is developed from data from 1963 to 2008 from the Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board, Alberta Environment and Alberta Sustainable Resource Development. The indicator is derived over a 46-year time span by comparing the number of reclaimed (certified and exempted) wells (Alberta Environment and Alberta Sustainable Resource Development data) to the number of abandoned wells (Energy Resources Conservation Board well license data). Wells not included in this indicator are those where the Energy Resources Conservation Board licenses were cancelled because the wells were not drilled.
