Alberta's one-hour average objective for carbon monoxide is to remain at or below 13 parts per million. The 8-hour average objective is to remain at or below 5 parts per million. The number of exceedances of the one-hour carbon monoxide objective has declined in Edmonton and Calgary since 1990. No one-hour exceedances have occurred since 1998. Similarly, the number of exceedances of the eight-hour objective has decreased in Alberta since 1990. No eight-hour exceedances have occurred since 2002.
