The information for this indicator was gathered from the individual airshed zone websites. The total airshed zone area is divided by the total area of Alberta to provide a relative measure of airshed zone coverage. The total area of Alberta is 661,185 square km. The trend in airshed zone coverage begins in 1994, with the formation of the Clean Air Strategic Alliance.

Currently, there are nine airshed zones in Alberta. These are the:

• West Central Airshed Society (WCAS)
• Wood Buffalo Environmental Association (WBEA)
• Parkland Airshed Management Zone (PAMZ)
• Fort Air Partnership (FAP)
• Peace Airshed Zone Association (PASZA)
• Palliser Airshed Society
• Lakeland Industry and Community Association(LICA)
• Calgary Region Airshed Zone (CRAZ)
• Alberta Capital Airshed Alliance (ACAA)
