Benzo(a)pyrene

Benzo(a)pyrene is primarily a by-product of incomplete combustion. It comes from a variety of combustion sources. These include industrial processes, transportation, energy production and use, food preparation, smoking tobacco, and open trash burning. It is also found in such materials as tar and asphalt. Benzo(a)pyrene has no specific uses. Natural sources include forest fires and grass fires.
